The salt harvest
Become an apprentice salt-maker in the “Marais d’Olonne” and take home your own harvest of salt (special for children).

In the middle of the salt marshes, children are invited into the heart of the salt enigma, where the sea, the earth, the sun and the wind all come together. After a few tips, they’ll be able to harvest the holiday-flavoured salt, earn the “Petit Saunier” diploma and join the Aubraie “Petit Sauniers” club. We guarantee an unforgettable day for children !
The 7-hectare Salt Adventure Park is full of surprising encounters. The salt farmer harvests on his salt pans, the Gallic salt ovens heat up along the way, and the customs guard hut symbolises the terrible repression of the gabelle. Then, more quietly, in the fish marshes, bass, mullet and eels surround the fisherman’s island. This is the best family activity in Vendee !
A few birdsongs attract us and it’s avocets and stilts busy pecking in the clumps of samphire that are getting ready to nest.
Here’s a taste of the atmosphere at Les Salines, where peace and serenity reign and transport us to that other place we call the present. A natural and original family activity in Vendee !
